Please find attached my submission regarding the proposed biodiversity conservation package. 2nd submission general comment text: The proposed draft package seems to want it both ways. The overview states that landholders should not have to bear the burden for managing their land along, and offers incentives. On the other hand, the landowner can make decisions regarding removing vegetation without notifying Local Land Services if classified as Category 1. This is contradictory and should not be allowed. Vegetation management affects us all, in sometimes surprising ways. As a taxpayer I want to ensure vegetation removal is soundly based and has had proper monitoring. This should be a social contract with high priority given to social and ecological indicators. Climate change is occurring and that affects us all, any reversal of the current carbon sink makes mitigation even harder. Our social well-being in dealing with climate change is depends heavily on maintaining and improving the current vegetation status.
