Dear Sir/Madam, I lie in a marginal electorate! The New South Wales Governments proposed new land clearing laws will cause enormous damage to the environment in this state. The changes will decrease biodiversity and cause the extinction of vulnerable plant and animal species. Repealing the Native Vegetation Act 2003 and Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 will increase land clearing and increase loss of habitat for native animals. The proposed changes remove vital safeguards for environmental protection and provide little oversight of landholders. I ask that the Government withdraws the Draft Biodiversity Conservation Act and Local Land Services Amendment Act. The Government must do more to protect the environment and ensure that legislation which will damage the environment is not introduced. The environment left by this generation is our gift to future generations. Please count this as my submission to the proposed biodiversity conservation reform package. I give permission for this submission to be made public. Yours sincerely, David Matheson 2777
