Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed changes to biodiversity conservation legislation. The proposed changes will lead to an increase in CO2 release, just as similar changes by the C Newman government did in Queensland; our clean waterways will become silted up and polluted from run-off; loss of topsoil from cleared land will harm our valuable, productive farmland; Australia's unique and already-threatened flora and fauna will come under increased extinction-pressure. Scientists oppose these laws, conservationists oppose these laws and farmers oppose these laws - they are a bad idea! I call on the government to withdraw the Draft Biodiversity Conservation Act and Local Land Services Amendment Act, and commit to laws which will genuinely improve outcomes for nature. Please count this as my submission to the proposed biodiversity conservation reform package. I give permission for this submission to be made public. Yours Sincerely, David Mackay Armidale NSW
